2-days ceramic hand-building workshop
Held and curated by French artist Violaine Toth. Hosted by Geogrāfica + L’Alighieri
The workshop
During these two days of intensive training with Berlin-based ceramic artist Violaine Toth, we will make a tea set (a teapot and a set of cups) using several handbuilding techniques. A great opportunity for beginners and advanced ceramic lovers to discover black stoneware mainly but also other stoneware clay colors in a friendly atmosphere.
The programme
Day 1, Saturday 16 September
10am - 1pm: Presentation of the workshop. Making of cups with different handbuilding techniques
2pm - 5pm: Modeling the body of the teapot and the lid
Day 2, Sunday 17 September
10am - 1pm: Finishing of the cups (textures, handles…)
2pm - 5pm: Assembling the spout and handles of the teapot .
At the end of the workshop, the finished pieces will be consigned to L’Alighieri, to be fired and glazed. It is possible to book an extra glazing class with Geografica to do this final step by yourself. The pieces will be delivered within one/two months after the end of the workshop.

About us
Violaine Toth is a Queer French ceramic artist based in Berlin, working primarily with black stoneware and minimalist tons of glazes. Violaine experiments with sculptural handles through collections inspired by Berlin's alternative culture, Neo futurism and Art Nouveau periods. Collaborating with various creatives as tattoo artists, carpenters, musicians and illustrators, they have been teaching pottery wheel for the past 5 years in their ceramic studio in Berlin.
L’Alighieri is a residence and creative space located in Monterotondo, in the province of Rome. It hosts courses, exhibitions, lectures, photographic sets and events in support of local and international artistic and craft heritage. It is a project by Pamela Ebano, Giulia and Daniele Umana.

Refund/cancellation conditions:
Registration cancellation is fully refundable by Friday 28 July 2023
In case of illness or emergency we will refund the total registration fee with a "voucher" that can be used either to join another workshop or to purchase products from Geogrāfica's ceramics line.
If the workshop does not reach the minimum number of participants it will be cancelled and the fee will be refunded entirely.
